Bagger 288 is a Seattle based band made up of two Johns--Fisher and Farrell--playing improvised, computerized
noise, in real time. We play intricately brutal improvised sound structures. Not just walls of sound--but
all shapes and sizes of sounds.
Our music is Influenced by the following: Sun Ra, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Gyorgy Ligeti, Muslimgauze, Igor Strawinsky, John Cage, Gongs, Bells, Tycho Brahe, Johannes Kepler, Wild Turkey, Fluttering Leaves, Roaring Waves, Terry Riley, Walt Whitman, Alan Lomax.
Mostly, we aim to make sounds evocative of outer space, apocalypse, mechanized destruction, forgotten lullabies, and the music of the spheres.
Check out the "music" section for examples we've recorded. Feel free to contact us via email if you are interested in
us performing at an event or venue, if you love/hate the music, or just need someone to talk to.
John Farrell plays the Buddha Guitar, mixer, radios, and effects:
John Fisher Mans the computers and an embarassment of midi controllers:
Bagger recording at Jack Straw Studios for the Sonarchy radio show:
Fisher takes care of the technical and sound design aspects of the group. Fisher also produces solo music under alias "Ricemutt." Farrell brings otherworldly guitar-scraping skills.
We are very interested in collaborating with local artists and musicians, especially multimedia collaboration--live soundtrack accompaniment for video or sculpture installations, film soundtracks, noise-offs, or anything!
